A hidden gem! (Sorry for the pun) Seriously this was an amazing place. The history and craftsmanship of these pieces should be experienced. My 9 year old grandson did not want to come in; he absolutely LOVED it! His favorites were the ‘animal’ dioramas. I was astonished how artists could take semiprecious stones like agate and make them look like animals.

Didn't skip the gift shop. Couple affordable lol take home trinkets and the expensive stones are some of the best on display in the whole museum. Whole place is eclectic and cool. Wednesday is free!

Truly a hidden gem in the suburbs especially if you're into gemstones and scripture carvings. They have quite the collection. The details in the sculptures is very impressive. It's a place for all ages, but I don't think children would appreciate the artistry as much.

News

Make your very own mosaic artwork! Each participant will create their own 4x4 tile using materials such as glass, stone, and millefiori. The instructor will discuss tools, techniques, and tips for the process of creating mosaics. All supplies are included in the workshop. The Chicago Mosaic School is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of mosaic education.
